Unboxing & Accessories
The Mevi comes in a white package which contains a semi-hard black carrying case with the brand logo and brand name printed on it. Inside the carrying case, there are the iem, pack of silicone tips and shirt clip. The unboxing is simple.
IEM Build & Design
The Mevi has a black shell and the back of the iem is circular. There is the brand logo printed at the back. The shell is made of aluminium. The strain relief on the left and right shells is blue and red respectively. The nozzle is straight with metal mesh for earwax prevention. The iem has no detachable cable and I am able to get a comfortable fit using the Mevi.
Cable Build & Design
The cable is black in color and it is not braided. There is strain relief on each side. It has microphone on the right which sports the brand name. The cable has no chin-slider. The y-splitter has a black circular housing. Lastly, the jack is 3.5mm straight gold plated with strain relief and the housing is black in color too.
The Mevi extends it sub-bass decently and it has an ordinary quantity. The sub-bass reproduction is presented in a clean manner. The rumble is natural and it is not the quickest. Bass decay is moderately quick and each bass note is presented well with accuracy. There is a nice definition. The mid-bass has moderate quantity and the slam is portrayed in a reserved manner. The Mevi reproduces its bass well but lacks the punch.
The midrange has a decent level of transparency but it is presented rather cleanly. The lower mids has decent quantity and it can still tackle male vocals. There is body but it can be improved with more quantity. The upper mids has a nice forwardness which helps to express female vocals well. There is a good amount of quantity and the crisp is lacking in creating a clear vocals performance. The details retrieval is moderate and the overall midrange takes on a warm approach.
The treble has a decent extension. There is no sibilance and harshness. It is being presented in an unoffensive manner. The amount of air is not a lot which causes congestion. The treble takes on a slightly bright approach and it is not overly done. It is able to offer good clarity at its price point. There is lack of sparkle. The Mevi showcases its treble well but there is a lack in extension.
The Mevi expands its stage in a natural manner and the width magnitude is average. The depth is quite closed in with little amount of space offered. It tends to get congested when tackling busy tracks.
Lypertek Mevi vs Kinera BD005E
The Mevi has less sub-bass quantity than the BD005E and it extends better. The BD005E is more capable of producing a fuller sub-bass reproduction. The Mevi is able to present its sub-bass cleaner. The mid-bass of the BD005E has slightly more quantity than the Mevi which results in a weighted slam. The Mevi has a quicker bass decay and there is more tightness in its bass presentation. Bass texture on the BD005E is smoother. The lower mids on the BD005E has more quantity than the Mevi and male vocals benefit from it. The upper mids on the Mevi carry more excitement with a stronger forwardness. Female vocals are presented livelier. In terms of treble, the Mevi is more extended but the BD005E has a smoother take. The details retrieval is around the same. The BD005E expands more naturally. The Mevi edges ahead with its width magnitude and offers more depth.
The Mevi is a budget dynamic iem that is able to create a balanced sound with an unoffensive bass presentation, soothing midrange and polite treble. It can be used for long listening sessions. In addition, it comes with a microphone which is suitable for daily use. The Lypertek Mevi is a nice debut iem for a new company.
